"Please Remain Calm" #194bpm #techno #synth #beats #vocoder #visuals #minimal

"Please Remain Calm" was made using only an Arturia MicroFreak for synth sounds and a Synthstrom Audible Deluge for drums, effects and live arrangement. I programmed all the MicroFreak sounds and sequences from INIT with the exception of the vocoder presets which I tweaked. I tracked all the MicroFreak sounds and sequences into the Deluge so I could perform this all as a live arrangement. I rehearsed this one minute piece for about 45 minutes to find an arrangement I liked and to practice transitions.

The song was recorded in one real-time pass playing both the MicroFreak (master clock) and the Deluge which you can see as one layer of this video. It was actually pretty tricky at 194 BPM so it took me about 12 takes.

I shot the video with a Sony ZV-1 and a green screen. I patched the MicroFreak into the Deluge so I could sub-mix to a stereo pair which I recorded with a Zoom H6.

Video post-production was done on an iPad which included adding visual effects on the performance clip. Custom motion graphic production was done on Windows 10 with Resolume Arena. I rendered the motion graphics in Resolume and took them back to the iPad where I keyed them in and cut them to match the song timings. The music was unedited and just has some light mastering which I did in Ableton Live 11.

All this was done in a series of 45 minute or so sessions in one 24 hour period coming in at around 12 hours of work for the whole project.

If you would like to show your support for this multimedia piece I've made the song available here on bandcamp name your price.
